"International Industry": NVIDIA Invests in Thailand to Reduce Reliance on China; Huang Renxun to Visit Bangkok by Year-End

[Finance Channel / Comprehensive Report] According to foreign media reports, NVIDIA, the world’s leading graphics processing unit (GPU) manufacturer, has announced plans to expand its investment in Thailand to further reduce its reliance on the Chinese market and drive the development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology. Thailand’s Minister of Commerce, Pichai Naripthaphan, confirmed that NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang will visit Bangkok in person in December to unveil specific investment plans.

According to a Bloomberg report, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang will visit Bangkok in December, where he is expected to announce plans to invest in Thailand. Although the scale and details of the investment have not yet been disclosed, Thai Commerce Minister Pichai Naripthaphan hinted that NVIDIA’s involvement could spur further investment in Thailand by global technology companies, particularly in areas related to AI and component manufacturing.

Bloomberg noted that NVIDIA’s investment comes at a critical time for Thailand, as the country is striving to catch up with regional competitors such as Malaysia and Singapore. The report mentioned that new investments in AI and technology infrastructure will effectively help drive economic growth. Due to political instability over the past decade, Thailand’s economic growth has consistently struggled to exceed 2%.

By 2024, the value of foreign investment commitments had increased significantly, particularly in the data center and printed circuit board sectors. According to official data, these investment commitments in the first nine months of this year grew by 42% compared to the same period in 2023, reaching 722.5 billion baht (approximately 675.9 billion New Taiwan dollars).
