[Thailand Electric Vehicles] Thai Partners Sign MoU on EV Battery Development

Thailand's Electric Vehicle Industry Is Growing Rapidly, Collaborating with International Partners

Thailand has taken another step forward in the development of its electric vehicle (EV) industry by signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with several EV organizations regarding battery development. These MoUs aim to establish a platform for collaborative research and innovation in battery technology, which is crucial for the expansion and sustainable development of the electric vehicle market.

At the first ASEAN Battery and Electric Vehicle Technology Conference held in Bali, Indonesia, Pimpa Limthongkul, Chair of the Thai Energy Storage Technology Association (TESTA), stated that TESTA has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on battery research with five partners. The five partners that signed the memorandums of understanding with Testa include the Singapore Battery Alliance, the Indonesian National Center for Sustainable Transportation Technology, the Indonesian National Battery Institute, NanoMalaysia Berhad, and the Philippine Electric Vehicle Association.

Battery technology has become key to this wave of industrial development in Thailand

Under this memorandum of understanding, the parties will work together to develop a national roadmap for battery development, covering areas such as policy, regulations, standardization, infrastructure, investment, and human resources. In addition, the parties will support and promote the exchange of information, knowledge, and expertise among stakeholders in the battery industry.

This memorandum of understanding is expected to enhance Thailand’s competitiveness and readiness in the electric vehicle industry, which is projected to experience rapid growth in the coming years. According to the report, battery technology is considered one of the key factors influencing the success or failure of electric vehicle adoption in Thailand. This memorandum of understanding also aligns with Thailand’s efforts to promote green and low-carbon transportation, while simultaneously advancing the country’s vision of becoming a regional hub for electric vehicle manufacturing and innovation.

Thailand has already introduced numerous measures to stimulate and support the development of the electric vehicle industry, such as tax exemptions, subsidies, and the establishment of charging stations. This memorandum of understanding will further enhance Thailand’s potential and appeal as a destination for electric vehicle investment and cooperation.
